All organisations have a culture and a generally accepted way of projecting their image. In some cases this may mean a dress down policy, in others a far more formal way of dressing.
For interview situations we recommend adopting a formal dress code. People can be judgemental about appearance and something that may seem quite minor (like unpolished shoes) can create a negative impression.
